Korea University

Korea University embraces the challenges of the 21st Century by building new bridges across old boundaries. These bridges include new educational programs that stress multiple majors and interdisciplinary studies; strategic partnerships with private and public R&D centers that pool resources and promote innovative research; and new international relationships that bring Korea University students together with students, faculty and programs of other leading universities around the world. Aggressive investments in new research facilities, information systems and infrastructure give these bridges the strength and flexibility to extend far into the next century. All of these bridges point to a single destination - achieving the University mission of educating "intellectuals in action." By "intellectuals in action" I mean men and women imbued with superior knowledge and the moral courage to put their intellectual skills to work in the search for lasting solutions to real problems. In a world of constant change, no institution can thrive by simply maintaining the status quo. Our efforts to move beyond the already strong reputation of our University reflects a 95-year tradition of ceaseless endeavor and reinvention.

European University Cyprus (EUC)

Established in 1961, European University Cyprus (EUC) is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Cyprus, joining the Laureate network in 2005. EUC has earned a reputation for excellence in teaching, innovation and research. First established as Cyprus College, EUC was granted university status in 2007. It is the first university in Cyprus and Greece to be awarded the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) Label by the European Commission and is one of only 40 institutions in Europe to have earned this distinction. The institution has a student enrolment of 5,300 and provides undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees. European University Cyprus is imbued with a strong commitment to community service and environmental sustainability, as it continuously strives to be “Here for Good”. European University Cyprus developed out of Cyprus College, which was founded in 1961 by Ioannis Gregoriou. The purpose was to provide a well-rounded education of high caliber, so that students would acquire the necessary academic and practical knowledge in their fields of study. A major development in the College’s history took place in 2000, when programs of study leading to Diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees were accredited by the Accreditation Council (SEKAP) of the Republic of Cyprus. On 24 February 2006 an application was filed for the establishment and operation of a private University according to the “Private Universities (Establishment, Operation and Control) Law 109(1) of 2005". The application evaluation process by the Evaluation Committee of Private Universities of the Republic of Cyprus, which was laborious and involved on-site visits of several evaluation teams, led to the acceptance of the application in September 2007. On 12 September 2007, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus rendered a decision for the establishment and operation of European University Cyprus, and licensed it to start its operation as of 1 October 2007, with four Schools, namely, the School of Arts and Education Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Sciences. All undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by European University Cyprus are recognised nationally and internationally.

University of California, Los Angeles

A Brief History of UCLA University of California, Los Angeles With only 11,000 inhabitants in 1880, the pueblo of Los Angeles convinced the state government to establish a State Normal School in Southern California. Enthusiastic citizens contributed between $2 and $500 to purchase a site, and on August 29, 1882, the Los Angeles Branch of the State Normal School welcomed its first students in a Victorian building that had been erected on the site of an orange grove. By 1914 Los Angeles had grown to a city of 350,000, and the school moved to new quarters?a Hollywood ranch off a dirt road that later became Vermont Avenue. In 1919, the school became the Southern Branch of the University of California and offered two years of instruction in Letters and Science. Third- and fourth-year courses were soon added; the first class of 300 students was graduated in 1925, and by 1927 the Southern Branch had earned its new name: University of California at Los Angeles. (The name was changed again in 1958 to University of California, Los Angeles.) Continued growth mandated the selection of a site that could support a larger campus, and in 1927, ground was broken in the chaparral-covered.

Missouri Southern University

Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology
The Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology is granted to students who satisfactorily complete the required program of study. These requirements include the general education curriculum, required science and other supportive courses, plus 32 hours of professional course credits from an affiliated school of Medical Technology in the final year of study. The faculty advisory for the Medical Technology program are in the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences, and students should be advised by these faculty to best facilitate completing the degree requirements in the minimum time. Passing a certification examination at the end of the clinical study is required.
Missouri Southern has affiliation agreements with the:
Baptist Health School of Medical Technology, Little Rock, Arkansas
CoxHealth School of Medical Technology, Springfield, Missouri
Mercy Joplin School of Medical Lab Science, Joplin, Missouri
North Kansas City Hospital’s School of Clinical Laboratory Science, North Kansas City, Missouri
If a student wishes to attend an accredited school of medical technology with which the University has no formal agreement, the Vice President for Academic Affairs can negotiate an agreement for the individual student. Students should be aware that enrollment in professional schools is limited. Each of the professional schools has its own admission criteria and selects those students to be admitted to a class from the applicants for that class. In general, this selection is based on the academic record or demonstrated aptitude for the medical field. Students are responsible for filing their own application for admission with the professional schools. Application should be made to the professional school during the early fall of the Junior Year or approximately 10 months prior to the expected entrance date. It is strongly suggested that the student contact the Director of the Medical Technology Program at the desired hospital early in their Sophomore Year to determine the exact application procedure.
A student may enroll in the professional courses either at the hospital-based school or through Missouri Southern, depending on the policies of the hospital-based school. Students enrolled at the hospital-based school are not considered members of the Missouri Southern student body, since the hospital-based school in such cases is considered as any other accredited institution of higher education. A student enrolling through Missouri Southern is considered a member of the University student body and is therefore eligible for benefits offered all students. The weekly time requirements for the professional medical technology courses (400 level) listed are based on the minimum requirements for a course meeting for a normal academic term for a minimum of 16 weeks. Actual scheduling of classes may vary according to custom of the individual professional school to meet these minimum total hour requirements.
Students whose career goals change or are unsuccessful in gaining admission to a professional training program are ideally suited to switch to and complete another science major (such as a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry) with virtually no loss of academic credits.

Hong Kong University

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a public research university in Clear Water Bay Peninsula, Sai Kung District, Hong Kong. Established in 1991, it is the territory's youngest higher learning institution with no precursory existence.

The university consists of four disciplinary schools, which offer degrees in business and management, engineering, science, and humanities and social science, alongside the Interdisciplinary Programs Office, which provides cross-disciplinary programs, and Fok Ying Tung Graduate School/Fok Ying Tung Research Institute, which promotes technology transfer and commercialisation. HKUST has been continuously viewed as one of the top three higher education institutions in Hong Kong

History

Established in 1991 under Chapter 1141 of the Laws of Hong Kong , HKUST is one of the eight statutory universities in Hong Kong.

In the late 1980s the Hong Kong Government anticipated a strong demand for university graduates to fuel an economy increasingly based on services. Sir Chung Sze Yuen and the then Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Edward Youde, conceived the idea of another university in addition to the pre-existing two universities .

Planning for the "Third University", named The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology later, began in 1986. Construction began at the Kohima Camp site in Tai Po Tsai on the Clear Water Bay Peninsula. The site was earmarked for the construction of a new British Army garrison, but plans for the construction of the garrison were shelved after the Sino-British Joint Declaration was signed in 1984.

Originally scheduled to finish in 1994, the death of Sir Edward in 1986 led to increased effort and allowed UST to open its doors early – in 1991. Several leading scientists and researchers took up positions at the new university in its early years, including physicist Leroy Chang who arrived in 1993 as Dean of Science and went on to become Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Thomas E. Stelson was also a founding member of the administration.

The project was criticised for surpassing the budget set forth by the Hong Kong Government and the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club. However, under the fund-raising efforts of its President, Woo Chia-wei, the first students enrolled in October 1991. By 1992, accommodation and athletic facilities were expanded to support about 7,000 students.

Several more expansion projects such as the construction of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Enterprise Centre have since been completed. The library extension building, Lee Shau Kee Business Building , Lo Ka Chung Building South Bus Station and Undergraduate Halls VIII and IX, Cheng Yu Tung Building and the Conference Lodge , are the latest additions to the campus.

Campus

The university is situated at the northern part of Clear Water Bay Peninsula in Sai Kung District, New Territories, Hong Kong, occupying a 60-hectare site overlooking Port Shelter in Tai Po Tsai. In addition to the academic complexes, the campus also boasts student halls of residence, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, the University Center, staff quarters and the President's Lodge, making use of the sloped terrain to divide the campus for different uses.

Academic Building

The Academic Building contains 10 lecture theatres , a multitude of classrooms, laboratories and administrative offices, as well as ancillary facilities such as canteens, banks, a bookstore and a supermarket. The lecture theatres can accommodate classes of up to 450 students and offer audiovisual equipment. In addition, an information center and a souvenir shop can be found at the Piazza.

Lee Shau Kee Business Building , completed in 2013 and named after entrepreneur Lee Shau Kee, houses offices and classrooms of the School of Business and Management . Before LSK went into operation, offices and classrooms used by all of the 4 schools were grouped under the same roof in the Academic Building.

The latest addition to the campus is the Cheng Yu Tung Building , which mainly consist of classrooms and laboratories, completed in 2015.
