Glyndŵr is the University of and for North East Wales, with a supportive ethos that places students at the centre of all its activities and an entrepreneurial mindset that contributes to regional economic growth through strong industrial partnerships. It has embarked on the delivery of a new strategic plan which will see it strengthen its offerings for students, providing an outstanding and professionally-focused learning experience, and working towards achieving research degree awarding powers at the end of the decade.
The University has recently formed a new School of Media, Arts and Design, bringing together all of its activities focused on the creative industries. The School incorporates the world renowned North Wales School of Art and Design (NWSAD) with a suite of innovative and highly regarded broadcast media, journalism, graphic design, TV and film production, humanities and art courses. Its facilities include a £5m Centre for the Creative Industries, and there is enormous potential to develop the School further.
A new Head of School is sought who will provide both strategic leadership and hands-on management, fostering a culture combining collaboration and support with high-performance and entrepreneurship. The appointee will have a key role in further developing the external profile and partnerships of the School and will contribute to overall institutional growth as a member of the University’s senior team.
Ideal candidates will have experience of managing a large department or school in a relevant disciplinary area, with a track record of external engagement and income generation. Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and cultivate a strong team ethos is critical.
